STUDY ABROAD
In addition to linguistic immersion programs to Barcelona, Spain and Puebla, Mexico, at the University of Kansas I helped to design two unique interdisciplinary pilot programs, one to Belgium and France, that focused on the plunder of European art during WWII, and one to Northern Spain (Camino de Santiago), dedicated to the study of Medieval pilgrimages and Romanesque architecture.
During my tenure at Francis Marion University, I planned a special excursion for students in my Spanish Inquisition class, during which we travelled throughout Spain, exploring medieval Jewish and Muslim cultural and artistic heritage.
At the SC Governor's School, I worked on two interdisciplinary courses (designed in collaboration with the Biology department), which culminated in a 10-day trip abroad. In 2018, we studied colonial Ecuadorian culture and evolutionary biology in the Galápagos Islands, and this year's course focused on the natural and early colonial history of the Dominican Republic.
